Southburn-based farmer and new Nationwide MP for Waitaki, Miles Anderson is heading to Wellington tomorrow for induction.
The sheep and beef farmer informed Rural Information that he was trying ahead to “placing his ft beneath the desk and studying the ropes” in Wellington.
Anderson convincingly received the Waikati seat with 19509 votes or 52.3% of the vote. He replaces long-term MP Jacqui Dean, who has retired.
“It’s fairly humbling to get a vote like we did,” he says.
His first dedication will probably be to the voters of Waitaki, a sprawling voters.
“It’s fairly a range of trade and folks and I’ll do my greatest to serve them,” he says.
Earlier than coming into politics, Anderson was energetic in Federated Farmers- serving as a board member and as chair of its Meat & Wool Trade Group.

Taking on the 220 hectare household farm in Southburn from his father in 2004, Anderson runs 1,500 sheep and about 20 beef cattle, with 10-80 hectares devoted to cereal crops.
