Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten walked out of a California jail Tuesday after serving 53 years of a life sentence for her participation in two notorious murders.
The California Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation mentioned Van Houten “was launched to parole supervision.”
Her launch comes days after Gov. Gavin Newsom introduced he wouldn’t combat a state appeals court docket ruling that Van Houten ought to be granted parole.
Van Houten, now in her 70s, obtained a life sentence for serving to Manson’s followers perform the 1969 killings of Leno LaBianca, a grocer in Los Angeles, and his spouse, Rosemary.
She was launched from jail within the early morning hours and pushed to transitional housing, her lawyer Nancy Tetreault mentioned.
