Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the only Opposition member within the Prime Minister-led three-member committee which appoints election commissioners, stated that he has given dissent notes on the appointments of two ECs as he was not made conscious of the names in advacne.
The committee picked Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu because the Election Commissioners after a gathering final evening, Chowdhury stated.
The Congress chief, whereas chatting with NDTV, stated he had requested for a brief checklist earlier than the assembly which may have given him particulars of all of the shortlisted candidates and that the Authorities had despatched the names of 212 candidates on Wednesday.
He added that the federal government is in majority within the panel, so “they selected the candidates they wished”.

Chowdhury had earlier written a letter to the Central authorities, in search of the “file” containing the “bio-profiles” of the shortlisted individuals “nicely earlier than” the assembly.
In a letter to Rajiv Mani, Secretary, Legislative Division and Division of Authorized Affairs, Union Ministry of Regulation and Justice, Chowdhury is learnt to have referred to the method adopted by the federal government relating to the choice of the Chief Info Commissioner and Info Commissioners and Chief Vigilance Commissioner and Vigilance Commissioners and requested the federal government to comply with the identical process.
The committee was tasked to nominate to election commissioners following the sudden resignation of Arun Goel on March 10 and Anup Chandra Pandey ‘s retirement on February 15.
