Police evacuate residents at Christchurch standoff, man armed with rifle

Armed police are in a standoff with an individual who has locked themselves in a home in Avonhead, Christchurch.

In line with police, they’re responding to an incident at a residential tackle on Beatrice Pl.

“[We] are encouraging an individual to come back outdoors of the premises.”

The individual is assumed to have a firearm and be alone on the tackle, police stated.
